Ty's FIRST 5 - Start With These New Songs 2/12
Why do all the work of listening to every song, when you’re really just looking for a few new tunes that you’ll love? No need - I’ve been having fun introducing 1-week-old Teddi to music. I’ve picked through the new releases and created a list of 5 songs to start with, this week.
Holding a baby and asking Siri to play songs has been a great combo (I can actually pull it off). Typing notes with one finger, as I listen to each song, has been slower paced.. so the notes are shorter, this week. The songs are fire, though!
Here are the FIRST 5 new releases you should hear…
“Miles” - Tiera ft. Breland
Tiera has proven that she knows exactly where she fits in music. Each song brings with it the optimism that dances inside the soul as life begins to show us the good things it can offer. Her joy is infectious in every song. Tiera really is here to make people’s lives brighter.
“Miles” accomplishes this, once again. Tiera is in full control, and teamed up with another badass, tenacious, newcomer in Breland. The production elements are sneaky-superb (subtle guitar slides and such) and that harmony at 2:22 is righteous! I’ve already put a lot of miles on this track, and it just dropped. Let’s Goooo Miles.

“Chasing After You” - Ryan Hurd ft. Maren Morris
Some people just can’t accept a good thing. For anyone who’s let themselves fall back into a (questionable?) situation time after time…
The guitar riff, the enchanted whisper of a wish being conveyed in the way that only Murd can deliver. When you look at how exceptional Ryan and Maren have been together (all the way from their first meeting at a co-write that turned out a Tim McGraw cut) to their relationship (about to celebrate 3 years of marriage) and now this duet (which Maren declared she would like to sing with her man, years back, on one of their first trips together). A great writer, himself, Ryan didn’t actually write this - which likely means his connection had to be that much stronger - he loves it and wishes he’d written it, in fact.
Listen closely to the mini-runs that Maren incorporates in the chorus - its an unconventional harmony because most couldn’t do it - and it shows the strength of their voices along with the understanding that Ryan & Maren have of each other. Recorded in their own basement, this song is seriously a full-circle musical moment.

“Left Right” - Hannah Dasher
Hannah Dasher is the reason I’m back to work. I’m serious! I was going to extend my paternity leave because we honestly don’t have this house in order quite yet (plus the boys are out of school on Monday). Then I heard “Left Right” and sharing it on instagram wasn’t enough!
This song is so fun that I have to play it on The Ty Bentli Show on Monday! Literally, the only thing that will quell this need to share killer music is to share it at the highest level and know that 165 countries worth of music lovers are experiencing it with me. Get ready for that by memorizing all the words, like I did.
**I’ve also been trying to learn to dance like Beyonce…Hannah has literally created country’s “Single Ladies”

“Softly and Tenderly” - Carrie Underwood
TY NOTE: As I typed this, every time I tried to write Carrie’s name, my computer auto-corrected it to ALL CAPS. Apparently I get so excited about Carrie that I literally never write a low-key “carrie underwood.” If you’re an all-caps level fan, too, I figured you wouldn’t want to miss this drop.
The first peek at Carrie’s My Savior album is this timeless hymn, which you might remember Carrie performing at the 2017 CMAs. Its beautiful. Its on my list because its CARRIE UNDERWOOD. As music fans, we all want to hear Carrie’s voice on anything.
Can you imagine going to church on a random Sunday and this song being performed by the choir…with CARRIE UNDERWOOD singing!? You don’t have to imagine it.

“Take Me Away” - Morgan Wade
She’s back on my list & March 19th continues to get even more exciting!
This is one of those songs you don’t want to accidentally listen to with your parents. Its sexy - in fact, is this the rest of the story from the girl in Ryan Hurd’s “Chasing After You?” She’s broken and wants to try to fill the void that just sits there as a heart is too scared to trust.. One night is enough to fool herself - just for the moment. Or maybe I’m reading this wrong & watch too many movies (in my defense, its a pandemic!). Morgan Wade has been impressive as her Reckless release approaches, next month.

AND THEN: Bonus drop with a request for YOU…
“Took One Look at Her Momma” - Restless Road
FULL DISCLOSURE: Help.
How do you react to this?
The harmonies kick it at the top of the chorus. You could quickly getting pulled in… Restless Road is the band that Kane Brown declined to become part of when they were created on X factor. That doesn’t mean Kane didn’t love the band, though - he signed them as the first act on his label imprint.
The harmonies are distractingly smooth, sitting right inside a barn jam session, but do me a favor and dig deeper.
Sometimes, I like to be appreciated on a completely superficial level (its half the point of going for a run on the treadmill or skipping OREOS until cheat day Friday), but as a lyrics guy, I listened closely to what’s being said here. Frankly, I put this on my list so that you would listen and tell me your first reaction.
